Dr. Surapaneni is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Cosmetic Surgeon who is a founder and operator of a diversified portfolio of healthcare businesses. He trained at UCLA where he was Chief Resident and was selected Outstanding Resident in GYN/Endoscopic surgery.

In 1990, he began building his portfolio of holdings in the United States and India with a focus on Information Technology (IT) and services to hospitals. He was the founder and operator of several healthcare ventures including:

• Medwrite – A company that meets the IT and EMR needs of 69 hospitals in the United States, Philippines, UAE, and India, now employing 1600 people (sold 2014)

• KPMD – A revenue cycle management company that grew to 540 employees and served a national hospital system that later acquired the KPMD infrastructure. It includes an artificial intelligence function that automatically performs coding and DRG assignment based on signs, symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatments as documented in the hospital’s electronic medical record. The system, designed by Dr. Surapaneni, is currently used in 40 US hospitals.

• Mediclean – An automated hospital laundry service located in Commerce, CA is one of the largest such facilities in the US. It services hospitals throughout Southern California including Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the US Veterans Administration Hospitals in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

While Dr. Surapaneni has focused on hospital IT services, he has also had many other successes in education and healthcare. He was the founder of the network that supports K-12 schools and an engineering college that encompasses 50,000 students across Andhra Pradesh, India. And Dr. Surapaneni was a founder (in 2002), director and Board Treasurer of a medical school and an affiliated 1200 bed hospital that provides a full range of training programs in all major specialties. He also led the establishment of two successful tiertiary for-profit hospitals.
